Terms and conditions
The short version: be honest in your listings, honour your bids, and treat people the way you would want to be treated. The long version is below.
1. Who we are
TeideBid is an online auction marketplace for residents of Tenerife, operated by Towpath Studio. You can write to us at hello@towpathstudio.com. TeideBid is currently in its launch phase and some features (such as card payment) arrive in stages.
2. Your account
You need an account to bid, sell or ask questions, and you must be at least 18. You are responsible for what happens on your account and for keeping your password to yourself. One person, one account.
3. Bids and sales
Every bid is a commitment to buy. When an auction ends, the highest bid wins and the winner must confirm the purchase by paying the protection fee (cash sales) or the final price (online sales) within 24 hours. If they do not, the seller may offer the item to the next bidder.
Sellers must describe items honestly, have the right to sell them, and hand them over as advertised. Bidding on your own auctions, directly or through another account, is forbidden.
4. Fees
Listing is free. On cash sales, the buyer pays a flat protection fee (€1 to €10 depending on the final price). On online sales, the seller pays a 5% fee (minimum €0.50, capped at €50, with badge discounts). The current fees are always published on the "How it works" page, which forms part of these terms.
5. Refunds and disputes
If the seller does not show up, or the item clearly does not match the listing, the protection fee is refunded. On online sales, payment is protected until handover. Sales between private individuals do not carry retail return rights, so check the item at collection, before you pay.
6. What cannot be sold
Nothing illegal, stolen or counterfeit; no weapons, animals, medicines, tickets resold above face value, or digital accounts. We may remove listings and suspend accounts that break these rules.
7. Our responsibility
TeideBid connects buyers and sellers; the contract of sale is between them. We do our best to keep the site available and safe, but we do not guarantee it will be error-free. Our total liability to you is limited to the fees you have paid us in the previous 12 months.
8. Changes
If we change these terms or the fees, we will announce it on the site with reasonable notice. Continuing to use TeideBid after a change means you accept it. Last updated: 7 July 2026.
